Ray is an infacto member of the Buddy Group.  He’s Stacey’s husband, Cathie’s son-in-law, and Sophie’s dad.  (Rumor has it, Sophie is heading up this way to kick our butts on a run.)  Over the years, though he’s from DeKalb, he’s venture up for some of our runs.  And if you’ve run the Corn Fest Run in DeKalb, he’s usually hanging out at one of the water stops.
But, Ray is the former fat guy.  By degree he is a mechanical engineer.  After trying unsuccessfully, then successfully to lose weight he became a trainer to help others do the same.  Ray has lost over 50 lbs and 5 pants sizes, and has kept it off for over a decade.  He is the owner of FitWorkz in DeKalb and author of "Eat by Color."  As a trainer he has helped hundreds lose weight and get into the best shape of their lives.  "Eat by Color" contains a simple, long-term approach to weight loss.  It is not a diet.  If you can paint by number you can "Eat by Color" and lose weight.
To find our more, head to the website: http://www.eatbycolor.com/
Or you can friend him on facebook at: www.facebook.com/eatbycolor
And on Twitter @eatbycolor.

And now for some messages from the Hippy Dippy Weatherman.
Now that da Mudda has started with the white stuff, use caution when you run.  Some of the paths and roads can be pretty treacherous with the buildup of ice and snow.  And remember, black ice isn’t only for roadways and cars.  The paths can have black ice as well.
Just another cautionary note…If you’re running in the streets and there piles of snow along the curb area and you’re running in the tire grove, watch for when cars are coming your way.  First, they may not see you.  Second, give yourself enough time to move to the side of the road (yeah, on the snow pile).  Third, watch for slipping back into the way of the oncoming car.

Rockford Half-Marathon next May…
The date is May 20th, 2012.
Training starts the end of February.
And just because my notes will reflect the training for the half-marathon, not everyone who shows up for a run is running the half-marathon.  So, come on down for a run at whatever your pace and/or distance.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Don’t forget, the Crazy Legs race next April is on the calendar.
The date is April 28th, 2012.  Registration opens after the first of the year.  I’ll keep you posted.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Audrey sent me information about the Lakefront Marathon in Milwaukee.  Registration for that race opens Sunday, 01/22/2012.  From what other have told me, this is a great race.  They limit the number of runners in that race, so don’t be closed out of this race.

Remember, the BG is on Facebook.  The link to the group now is: http://www.facebook.com/pages/3R-Buddy-Group/113136022536
The dates and activities for the next month or so should be out there.  So, look for some information there.  And go ahead and write on the wall.  Let others know about your running adventures.
